We have a winter grayling hunt on the legendary Hodder on Monday January 14th 2008 to help us blow away the Christmas cobwebs. They take nymphs readily and worms trotted on a grayling bobber up to 12 inches down.

The incomparable Inn at Whitewell has four rods available for overnight guests (staying Sunday 13th Jan), or you can buy day tickets for the Slaidburn stretch of the Hodder (fly only) if you can’t make a night of it.

Our second major fixture of the year is a day’s boat competition on www.stocksreservoir.com on Friday June 6th 2008 – mighty rainbows and blues make for outstanding sport in this highly respected water.

Contact our fixtures secretary, Dougal Paver, here to reserve your places.  Members’ guests are positively encouraged.

Each year we organise a trip to the Four Ts ñ the Test, Tay, Tar and Teifi, giving us the very best of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Dates for 2008 are as follows

Test: xx May
Tay: xx August
Tar: xx September
Teifi: xx October

Members will be e-mailed with details of costs and accommodation in early January 2008. For now, just register your interest by e-mailing our fixtures secretary, Dougal Paver, here.

The rivers boast their own character and challenges and offer us all a rounded take on the great variety we enjoy as anglers here in the British Isles. Throw in good food, wine, company and craic and each trip will be one to remember. Guests are always welcomed and will, of course, be asked to join!
